Course Description

How should we approach interpreting a counselling/psychotherapy session? How will the interpreting decisions we make impact upon the therapy? What does the therapist need from us in order to do their job effectively?

So many questions in this domain and until now, very few answers. This webinar will give you an opportunity to develop your reflective practice in relation to the triadic relationship within a therapeutic setting. Jill holds a CPCAB Diploma in Relationship Counselling with The Relate Institute and a diploma in Transactional Analysis (Psychotherapy), having trained and completed four years clinical training in Psychotherapy. Jill is also qualified BSL/English Interpreter and has been since 2004 so is best placed to share perspectives of both the therapist and interpreter.

By the end of the webinar you will have an increased awareness of:

  • how to prepare for a counselling/therapy session.

  • the practicalities and logistics of interpreting a counselling/therapy session.

  • how your lexical choices impact upon the therapeutic session

Completion of this course will give you a minimum of 2 hours' structured CPD points. You will also be provided with a number of resources for you to gain further unstructured CPD points.
