Course Description

What are some of the unique ways in which CSWs work with Deaf Primary School pupils? How do they work alongside Deaf TAs and Teachers of the Deaf

Marilyn Henderson, a CSW with many years' experience and BSL NVQ 6, gives us an insight into her work with Deaf children. She discusses challenges faced in primary mainstream education, as well as successes and aspirations for the future.

Whether you're an educational interpreter, CSW, teacher of the Deaf, TA, SENCO any other professional working with Deaf children at school, you will benefit from this training and the discussion throughout.

Communication Support Worker, Roding Primary School Marilyn Henderson

Marilyn Henderson is currently a CSW for Roding Primary and nursery with a Deaf Provision.  She has worked here for over 7 years.  Prior to this she worked at The City Lit, and various other HE colleges around London as a CSW. Overall, Marilyn has over 10 years' experience of working as a CSW and experience of managing and supervising CSWs. She has an NVQ Level 3 CSW qualification and Level 6 in BSL. Marilyn's background is working on disability policy for a local authority, and voluntary sector and charitable organisations which undoubtedly informs her passion and knowledge in providing access to the Deaf children she works with.
